ADHD --- Advise for Parents



Dear Parents

You may sometimes wonder, how to engage your child who has ADHD/ADD (hyperkinetic disorder). The important thing is to maintain a certain regularity in the planning of the days in order to prevent your child's symptoms from being amplified.

2- Maintain fixed bedtimes/wakeups and mealtimes. For meal times, do not hesitate to make pleasant times regularly.


3- Maintain socializing times (family, school friends). Schedule a systematic time for discussions with peers, organize outings, and activities, and keep busy.


4- Organize your child's days according to a typical day: school work time, for example, recreation time (indoors or outdoors). please formalize your child's schedule in writing so that he can refer to it (visual pictogram for non-reader children).


5- Maintain a daily sports activity: do indoor activities, or go out for a walk, bike ride, or other. If possible, do a session of 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon like real sports lessons. play with the child and make the child learn from the activities.


6- Organize manual work during the day such as drawing, salt dough, painting, and music.


7- Organize family playtime in the evening, at least 10 minutes with the whole family, such as singing, dancing, laughing together.


8- Take care of yourself as a parent. Anxiety is transmitted: when the parents are anxious, It is important to take care of yourself as a parent. You can also do breathing or relaxation sessions, with or without the children.


9- Refer to the doctor or the therapist in time of need
